Great Big Sea - Halifax Presale for The Lower Deck 35th Anniversary

The Lower Deck in Halifax, NS, turns 35 in September! Since the Deck was Great Big Sea's home away from home in the early years, the boys will be performing at the Lower Deck's very special 35th Anniversary Concert on Sunday, September 20. Starting tomorrow, August 27, at 11am ADT, the GreatBigSea.com Store will be selling a limited amount of tickets for this special night. Make sure you're logged on and ready to go for 11am ADT, because this is going to sell out in no time. Good luck!

Show of Hands Preps New Studio Album for Release

(from the Show of Hands newsletter)

..." The big news for us is the completion of the new Show of Hands studio album, 'Arrogance Ignorance and Greed'.  Eight of Steve's, two covers and two traditional songs were recorded during the summer in Exeter, Royston and Honiton with Phil laying down all his parts before he set sail in June (so to speak!). Recent events have inevitably inspired a darker and edgier batch of songs and many of you will already have heard numbers such as 'The Keys of Canterbury' 'Drift' and 'IED'. Sought-after young producer, Stuart Hanna has been beavering away, editing, mixing and polishing, and the resulting album will be available on the tour, or you can order a copy now from the website for delivery in late September / early October. It will be in the shops in late October.

Our extensive 'County Towns' outing starts in late September and inevitably the emails querying our exact definition of a CT have started flowing in. We've tried to be as accurate as possible and will be performing in nearly all of them. Happily our advance ticket pre-sales are looking excellent. Opening for us on this tour is the wonderful Franco/Geordie guitarist and singer Flossie Malavialle.

As ever we rely on all of you to spread the word and the music and to enthuse as many people as you can, not just about SOH but about this unique folk and roots scene that we all love and enjoy."
